Good Morning from Fulton County

Welcome to Fulton County! This is a view very familiar to me, as it is within throwing distance of my parent's home.

Sunday morning I went on a walk, just me and my camera and my binoculars (and some brownies, but that's besides the point :). The air was crisp, the colors were bright, the birds were singing and I was in heaven. I kept a mental list of the birds I saw that morning, including a friendly downy woodpecker that modeled for me.

I saw mockingbirds, robins, a titmouse, a kingfisher, a flicker, bluebirds, a flycatcher of some sort, chipping and white throated sparrows, goldfinches, blue jays, crows, a mourning dove, and cardinals. I heard a nuthatch, but never saw it. The woods and fencerows were crawling with winged critters, another advantage to morning.

I do a decent amount of hiking these days, but I don't have much of an opportunity anymore to stroll through woods and fields, completely off of any established trail, completely alone. But I did so for many, many hours in my earlier years. I recommend it to anyone, and I plan to share more moments from this walk in the next few days :)

Hi Ash - so glad you dropped into Rabaul. I have been unable - what with the trip and my shocking phonelines to visit all the blogs I like so much including yours - I usually only get back to those that visit me!!!

So love your posts - we have very similar tastes and have enjoyed catching up again.

Hi Ash.. what a beautiful area to be able to spend time in, I to wander off the beaten track.. I love to sit and listen to the sounds of the woodland.. Your woodpeaker was a joy to see, I look forward to seeing more of your pictures from this walk.

Beautiful area! Glad you enjoyed your time out. I have been doing that more and more lately.... exploring new areas and re-examining old ones. I look forward to hearing more about your walk.

I do really like your scenery with those mountains or rolling hills in the distance. What a view.

I am also glad you are getting to see some of the birds I see or saw. Most of those that spent the summer here in the area are gone for the winter I guess. I do have a downey woodpecker and some field sparrows and house sparrows but tht's about it.

Sunday morning as I looked out the kitchen window I noticed someone walking up the hill. It was only a moment until I knew who I had spied as I watched you drop into your "Macro Crouch" apparently photographing some small treasure near the ground.

Good shots as always Amy. Slip over to Country Captures to see the nuthatch that got away :)

Ash, I have been looking at your blog and love it! The picture of the valley and distant mountains struck a deep chord in me. A just looked and it reminded me of my child ghood in the mountains of Alabama. I havent seen a email address so i guess i can ask here. I was wanting to ask if I may link you on my blog at www.ateveningfall.blogspot.com . I prefer to ask before adding someone as i am very peculiar about who I add. (quality over quantity) ;-) please keep up the great work and I look forward to returning.

Rick
