My Walk in Details

My Sunday walk provided me with something I'd been wanting for a while: a decent shot of one of my favorite wildflowers (though some would call it a weed), chickory. A bumblebee was nice enough to point out this perfectly lit flower, but off he flew before I could get him in the frame.

This goldfinch is cropped so tightly that the shot is not good for much besides web viewing. But since I can't convince the birds to let me walk up and shake their hands, this is the best I can do :) As it is, I was amazed that this one let me approach so closely. I guess he was really determined to get the seeds from his plant.

And finally, one more leaf filter to round out the trip. This is an extra-munchy sycamore leaf, found down by the creek.

Thanks for taking me on your walk. Beautiful pictures. I didn't know the chicory was a blue flower.
The leaf filter pictures have been fabulous. I don't think that my little Sony Cybershot can do that though I just might try.

£ fantastic shots Ash, each one a gem in its own right... I am having the same trouble with the birds, I think I'm going to be able to get closer then off they fly. I'm thinking of seting up a little hide in the woods and start leaving food about.. maybe in a few weeks I might be able to wrap up warm, take my flask and stake the place out.

Lovely shots! I fully agree with you about the birds. I had a terrible time shooting them with the S-2. You have to invade their comfort zone and they have wings, a difficult situation indeed! Some of the best shot I got were through our kitchen window.

Lovely photos! And that goldfinch is sweet! I've been having a dickens of a time trying to photograph the sandpipers and other shorebirds which are now on our beaches (sans sunbathers and boaters)!

This leaf is marvelous. I like to find such leaves and consider how very delicate they are and how much they endure in a few short seasons. Thanks for this close-up.

Chickory has a beautiful shade of lavender. I like the goldfinch; how charming he looks! You did a great job on the leaf filter.
